Ellen Vogel, Practice Manager
I grew up in Delmar, NY, a suburb of Albany. After earning a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education at Ithaca College, and a Master of Science in Computer Science from Union College, I relocated to to metro Atlanta to work in Information Technology. During my tenure in Atlanta, I was rated a Gallup 90th Percentile manager.
Looking for a new challenge, I returned to school and graduated from St. Petersburg College's Veterinary Hospital Management program. In 2010 I moved to Durham in order to become part of the Falconbridge family. The favorite parts of my job are writing the cat blog, The Litter Box, and jumping in to help other team members when they are busy. I have a special love of cats, and am currently studying to become a Master Cat Groomer. I also volunteer with Pet Partners as the registered handler for 2 therapy cats and am training another. I am always happy to talk about cats with our clients, especially grooming and training! In 2017 I completed my training and became Fear Free Certified.
My clowder (group of cats) includes Savannah Marie, my 2 registered therapy cats, Arcadia Grace and Vivo Fugue, and my trainee, Madrigal. When not volunteering with Pet Partners, I enjoy music, especially playing piano and singing in the church choir, reading, sewing, and gardening.
I was born in Germany while my parents were serving there in the U.S. Air Force. My family moved to North Carolina after their assignment in Germany was finished, and it is here that I was raised.
I have always loved animals, something I acquired from my mother who is a Registered Veterinary Technician. I began volunteering at the hospital where she worked when I was 14. At 16 I applied for a paid position in order to raise money for a trip to Europe. In addition to reception, I have worked in a kennel, as a technician, and given seminars to veterinary hospitals as a veterinary pharmaceutical company representative. I enjoy reception since it allows me to see our patients and clients on a daily basis and to strive to provide the best customer service possible.
My husband, Chris, is a brewer; we love to travel and explore new cultures and cuisine. We have 2 cats, Tonya the queen bee (at least she thinks so), and Lilly the squeaking scaredy cat. The newest addition to our family is a rambunctious corgi mix named Franklin who likes to cause trouble; fortunately he's adorable so no one can stay mad at him long.
